The quiet town of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay was energized as players from all over the province gathered to compete in the Men’s Category 8-9 balls tournament on March 24-26,2023. In the end, it was SLC-3 who emerged victorious, cementing their place in billiard history.
The two-day tournament was a showcase of skill and precision, with the best male players from across the province competing for the championship. The matches were played in single elimination format, with the winner of each match advancing to the next round while the loser dropping down to the loser basket.
SLC 1, composed of Ipil, R.T. Lim, Titay and Tungawan districts, made their way through the brackets with impressive victories over tough opponents. The players displayed excellent strategy, capitalizing on their opponents’ mistakes and executing their shots with precision.
In the final match, SLC 1 faced off against the formidable players of SLC 2and 3 . The match was tense and closely contested, with both players displaying their best skills. However at the end, it was SLC 1players, Jerald A. Malaque a Grade 7 from San Isidro NHS, Tungawan Zamboanga Sibugay and Kristian R. Piodena a G 10 student of Surabay NHS, R.T Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay who emerged victorious in the 8 and 9 balls respectively.
The game attracted a large crowd of billiard enthusiasts who cheered on the players throughout the tournament.
