With the pandemic wa- ning, DepEd-Zamboanga Sibugay finally holds this year’s Provincial Meet participated by 1,640 athletes broken as follows: SLC 1, 558; SLC 2, 433; SLC 3, 317; and to SLC 4, 341. These athletes are competing for the 21sports events, including the para games of the Special Education Schools. They are ably technically supervised by the strong 656 officiating officials coming from the different SLCs.
Guided by this year’s Pa- larong Panlalawigan’s theme, “Shaping the Future through Sports”, a short but meaningful opening program was held at 3:30pm of March 24 at Ipil Sports Complex. Only 50% of the delegation has joined the parade, excluding those who have scheduled games on that day.
Per guideline, game events like basketball, baseball, softball, futsal, soccer, volleyball, and sepak takraw, shall be on a “winner-takes-all” policy and shall observe a mandatory play all rule. To add, a cham- pion team shall be sent to the higher meet. This will lessen difficulty of meeting athletes for practices.
SDS Aleman in her speech stressed, “Put in your mind and heart the spirit of sportsmanship. You are here, not just to compete but to build camaraderie”. The sportsfest will run until March 26.
