Home Learning Space (HLS) Program
DepEd – Zamboanga Sibugay – Gaining quality education has never stopped even when pandemic hit the world. Hard times brought about changes. Learning has shifted from classrooms to home school. Various ways to learn through modular, radio, tv and online modalities are available. Now, the waves have slowly calmed the tides. Limited Face-to-Face classes have started. Children are gradually back to regular classes and normal life as they used to have soon enough.
The Home Learning Space (HLS) Program is an offshoot of Brigada Eskwela. It aims to bring together education partners, stakeholders and experts to help learners and families create a conducive learning space at home to develop learners’ creativity and sharpen their focus so that their attention be glued in studying without being disturbed.
With the leadership of Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Jeanelyn A. Aleman, CESO VI and Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Aurelio A. Santisas, DepEd – Schools Division Office of Zamboanga Sibugay is committed to provide support to this program for the young learners to achieve quality learning within the comfort of their homes, within the boundaries of their humble abode.
Five schools were identified. These are Kulambugan Elementary School in R.T.Lim District; Bulawan Elementary School in Payao District; Bagong Buhay Elementary School in Alicia District; Talamimi Elementary School in Buug District and Palomoc Elementary School in Titay District.
Every school has pre-identified eight learners. With big smiles on their faces, each of the 40 children received a package of learning tools which includes one plastic chair sponsored by Milo of Nestle Philippines; one radio transistor; a Smart WiFi modem with Free P100.00 load; a notebook and a pencil. All these are placed in a plastic box.
With DepEd’s initiative reinforced by the parents, this is such a simple yet meaningful way so learners will be more excited and more motivated to study.
Quality education can be attained even during challenging times while learning can be effective, easy and fun all along.
It takes a village to raise a child. It takes a community to educate a child as well.
Indeed the young generation is the real hope of the future.
Learning is a continuous process of gaining knowledge. It is important for young ones to develop a good study habit and never stop learning as life never stop teaching. (DepEd-RGL_05242022)
