ZSibugay opens 368 schools; Expanded Limited Face-to-face begins

A total of 368 schools are given go signal to open classes starting March 1 to April 8, 2022.The number represents the 358 public elementary and secondary schools out of 506 schools and nine (9) out of 68 private schools within the division of Zamboanga Sibugay.

InCongressional District 1, seven (7) out of eight (8) districts are given approval of operation by their Local Chief Executives (LCEs) totaling to 138 schools.  These are broken down as follows: Diplahan (30); Imelda (18); Malangas (33-100%); Alicia (1) Olutanga (9); Mabuhay (2); and Talusan (1).  Nine (9) private schools likewise given approval to open classes. Only the district of Buug failed to get the support of their municipal mayor.

On the other hand, Congressional District 2 has 232 schools coming from the eight (8) districts of Ipil (34-100%), Kabasalan (33); Naga (33-100%); RT Lim (17); Siay (35-100%); Titay (40); Tungawan (36-100%); and Payao (37-100%).

All 368 schools have undergone division validation conducted by the joint force of the Schools Governance and Operation Division (SGOD) and the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID).  Technical assistance was given in terms of document preparation, including the physical groundworks and material readiness.

Continuous advocacy to the remaining 148 public schools and 59 private schools is being undertaken.  The Schools Division expects more schools to open in the succeeding days until April 8.More so, Buug district which failed to secure concurrence from the local chief is expected to come up with positive response in the coming days, as DIC Silveria Pagayon continually make follow-throughs and present the tedious preparations they undergo just to meet the requirements of the expanded limited face-to-face.

“Let us open back our schools to our school learners who yearn to make life normal in the course of their studies.  Parents are tired. Teachers are tired. Learners are getting sick of answering modules.  This is the right time. Let us seize the opportunity”,

thus said SDS Jeanelyn A. Aleman during the Division Management Committee Meeting (DIMANCOM) held February 23, at Roderics Resort, Zamboanga Sibugay.
